There is a big problem in schools today and its the main meal students get. lunch is a very important part of every school day. students think better when they are not hungry and there are many students throughout the nation who dont get breakfast or dinner. A lunch provided by the school is the only meal they get all day and many kids dont get a meal all weekend or over a holiday break. school lunches use the so called "pink slime" or "lean finely textured beef" which is all the connective tissue, meat scraps and even small pieces of bone. this is what school systems are purchasing and making into "patties" or  "nuggets" to give to students. Students deserve better from schools.

It was recently announced that the USDA has a contract to buy 7 million pounds of the pink slime for the school lunch program. This isn’t new; the USDA has been buying this pink slime meat filler for the school lunch program for children since at least 2005.

The “slime” consists of beef by-products: cow intestines, connective tissue and other parts that are not used in traditional beef cuts.
Those parts are more susceptible to E. coli and salmonella contamination, so the last ingredient to the “pink slime” is ammonium hydroxide, which kills that bacteria.
McDonald’s, Taco Bell, and Burger King all decided in January they would stop using the “pink slime” in their food after pressure from celebrity chef Jamie Oliver
